Luna Negra blends ballet and combat boots

She slid onto the stage, one foot in a combat boot, the other in a delicate ballet slipper. Setting a tiny music box on the stage, she backed away slowly while around her dancers stretched and turned in enormous puffed skirts. Madison Ballet: 'Nutcracker' will go on, with or without WCO

For the first time in 28 years, Madison Ballet is unsure who will play in the pit for "The Nutcracker" this December. That's even though negotiations are going well between the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra and its musicians, who have been on strike since Oct. 1. The musicians' union and the staff of the orchestra recently came to a temporary agreement to play their Holiday Pops concerts on Nov. 29 and 30 in Middleton. more >>
